GET YOUR DRIVER’S LICENSE AT VERKEERSSCHOOL NELEN AMSTERDAM (ALSO EXPATS)
It is possible to get your driver’s license with an instructor that can also speak English. For a driver’s license you need to pass a theory exam and a practical exam.
Expat? If you have a driver’s license from another country, you can sometimes exchange your driver’s license. You can drive for 185 days with your own country’s driver license.
After 185 days you have to take a theory and practical exam again in the Netherlands to get a valid driver’s license. You can take a theory and practical exam at the CBR. This is the organization that takes the theory and practical exam.
THEORY
Verkeersschool Nelen can provide you a theory course once a month on a Saturday or in the evening on weekdays.
This theory course is only given in Dutch along with Dutch theory books only. The theory course takes place at the Verkeersschool Nelen location.
We also offer English theory books. With the book, you receive a code to access online practice theory exams. After reading and learning the theory, you can schedule private lessons with one of our English speaking instructors. The theory exam can be done in English at the CBR and has to be scheduled by Nelen. For other languages than English, you have to arrange an official translator.
PRACTICAL
Verkeersschool Nelen has several driving instructors who speak fluently English and can teach you how to drive safely. The practical exam can be done at CBR in English or another language (then you have to bring your own translator). We have to let the CBR know in advance whether or not you are going to bring a translator while scheduling your practical exam.
To ensure good progress, we advise you to take a driving lesson once a week for two hours.
RIJLESPLANNER.NL
Once you are a student at Verkeersschool Nelen, you will get a login for www.rijlesplanner.nl. If you want to, you can get insight on your appointments, invoices and progress on the Rijlesplanner website. You can log in on our website www.nelen.nl.
On our homepage you click on Inlog Leerlingen Rijlesplanner. We will send you the log in information by email. Fill in your driving school code and the email address you use at Verkeersschool Nelen. When you download the Rijbewijsapp that comes with it, you can also see everything on your smartphone. This app will send a reminder 15 minutes before your scheduled driving lesson and gives you an overview of your progress and payments.
INSTRUCTOR
We will select an instructor for you. Should it be that the instructor does not suit you or your availibility does not match the instructor’s agenda? Then you can call us and ask for a different instructor. We will certainly try to find another suitable instructor for you. If your instructor falls ill, we will try to find another instructor who can drive your lesson with you so your lesson won’t be cancelled.
